The complaint of dizziness is highly prevalent but remains often an enigma to the physician in daily practice. Serious diseases potentially accompanied by dizziness like stroke, multiple sclerosis or brain tumors can easily be identified by brain imaging or other standard neurological techniques without the necessity to understand how dizziness evolves. The dizziness unit was established in 2002. It serves the advanced diagnostic workup, evaluation, follow-up and treatment of patients suffering from acute or chronic dizziness or vertigo due to peripheral vestibular origin or central nervous diseases. Since mid 2016 patients suffering from dizziness are attended interdisciplinarily together with colleagues from the ENT clinic.
