Opportunities for Research Group Leaders

Actively shaping the institute’s future and assuming responsibility early on – these are opportunities the HIH offers to junior research group leaders. Flat hierarchies and exceptionally close links between basic and applied research in clinical neurosciences are hallmarks of the HIH. At the HIH, junior scientists profit from a state-of-the-art research infrastructure to develop their own independent research program. A variety of educational programs, from management seminars to habilitation mentoring, pave the way to personal and professional advancement.

Junior Research Groups

The HIH supports scientists in achieving independence at an early stage of their scientific career. Outstanding employees have the opportunity to become the head of their own research group. Provided they are appropriately qualified the can apply to gain the status of a HIH research group leader.

Young researchers with the appropriate external funding (e.g. ERC Grant, Emmy Noether Programme) have the opportunity to establish an independent junior research group at the HIH. Independent Research Groups have the same status as HIH research group leaders.

Junior group leaders can receive structured guidance in developing their own independent academic profiles at the Junior Academy of the Faculty of Medicine.
